About Me

Hello! My name is Mohan Kumar Sunuwar – Mokusu. I’m a self-taught hobbyist photographer, a lover of nature, and a traditional bamboo flute player (also self-taught!). I was born and raised in a remote village in Nepal and now live and work in Massachusetts.

Growing up as a village boy, I spent my days in the woods, tending to livestock, gathering fodder and firewood, climbing trees taller than I could fathom, and chasing away monkeys that raided our vegetable patches. The taste of salty sweat while hauling heavy loads uphill, cuts on my toes from walking barefoot on rocky paths, leech bites covering my legs, and scratches from sharp khar grass were all just part of life.

I experienced nature in its purest form: the nurturing love of a mother bird feeding her hatchlings, the raw hunger of a tiger taking one of our goats, and the awe-inspiring beauty of a rainbow when sun and rain converged. I found hope in the sunrise, knowing it marked a new beginning, and solace in the sunset, knowing tomorrow would come. The flowing river taught me resilience, while waterfalls and the spring breeze brought music into my soul. I photograph nature to stay connected to it, and I play the flute as a way of paying tribute to it. I’m sharing some of my photos on this site, and I hope to upload some of my flute music in the future. My love for nature today is stronger than ever.
